Emirates Post has recently signed agreements with the postal authorities in Sri Lanka and Indonesia to ensure improved postal services between the UAE and the two countries. The agreements cover three key areas of express mail service (EMS), parcels and international money order.
An Emirates Post delegation led by Mr. Abdulla Al Daboos, Director General, visited the two countries to sign the agreements and discuss ways of enhancing mutual cooperation in postal matters. He was accompanied by Mr. Mohammed bin Shaker, Director, 4th Postal Zone and Mr. Ahmed Saif Balhaif, Operations Director, Emirates Post.
“The separate agreements with the postal organizations in Sri Lanka and Indonesia reflect Emirates Post’s desire to expand its postal services with a focus on speed, efficiency and technology,” said Mr. Al Daboos. “Sri Lanka and Indonesia are important to us because there is considerable volume of postal exchange between us. In addition, a large number of people from these countries live and work in Dubai. It is, therefore, appropriate that we raise the standards of service for the benefit of people on both sides.”
In Colombo, the agreement which is effective from June 10, 2004, was signed by Mr. K.A.S. Senadheera, Postmaster General, Department of Posts, Sri Lanka. Following the agreement, enhanced services in direct exchange of money order, parcels and EMS (Mumtaz Post) are being offered between the two countries.
The technical arrangement with Directorate General of Posts and Telecommunications, Republic of Indonesia, to increase cooperation in international parcel services, postal money orders and EMS was signed by Mr. Budi Santoso, Deputy Director General for Postal Affairs, Republic of Indonesia, and Mr. Al Daboos, during a visit to Indonesia.
“The new agreements form part of Emirates Post’s dynamic moves to expand its operations by cementing postal ties with more countries as well as provide all the nationalities living in the UAE with high-standard services that help them bridge the distance between them and their home countries,” said Mr. Al Daboos. “We are confident that the new agreements will bring Sri Lankans and Indonesians living in the UAE closer to their families and associates.”
