Emirates Post recently signed agreements with the postal authorities of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia for handling money transfer, parcels and the Mumtaz service between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the three countries.
As a result of the agreements, money orders will be delivered in less than three days, backed by the track and trace facility. The service will be available after the electronic link between the UAE and the three countries is established. As for parcels, all air parcels will be delivered to the recipient a week after they reach the destination city. In the case of parcels sent by surface mail, the maximum delivery time will be one month.
Emirates Post recorded 100 million Emirati dirhams ($27.2 million) in profits for the year 2002, an increase of 11 percent over the previous year, on revenues of Dh 243.7 million. The corporation has projected a profit of Dh 110 million for the year 2003 and allocated Dh 78.4 million for developmental and expansion projects across the UAE — (menareport.com)
