Emirates has honoured the UAE’s top company internal auditors for excellence in Information Systems Auditing.
Radhakrishnan Alagarsami of Tejari FZ LLC, and Pramila Rani of Comtrust achieved the highest scores in the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) examination. Ivan Eugene Rosario of PriceWaterhouseCoopers came out on top in the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) examination.
Some 250 UAE-based candidates from the fields of finance, IT, auditing, IS consultancy and IS security took the CISA and CISM examination last year, in which a pass score of 75 is required.
Joshua Koshy, Emirates’ Senior Vice President IT, presented the awards at a ceremony during the annual meeting of the UAE chapter of the US-based Information Systems Audit & Control Association (ISACA).
Mr Koshy said: “I am very pleased to present the Emirates Awards 2004 for excellence in Information Systems Auditing. “With the ever-increasing reliance on Information Technology in business today, IS Audit and IT Security procedures are critical. In order to keep pace with IT’s rapid development, IS Auditors and IT Security personnel must constantly upgrade their skills and competencies through professional certification such as CISA and CISM.”
The CISA certification is the only programme recognised globally throughout the Information Systems Audit and Control community and is used as a criterion for employment and advancement in many organisations.
Based in Chicago, ISACA was established in 1969 and now represents over 35,000 members in more than 100 countries. In the area of IT governance, control and assurance, ISACA plays a key role through its CISA and CISM certification programmes and by establishing international standards and code of professional ethics to guide and govern the profession.
The Internal Audit department of Emirates spearheaded the formation of the UAE chapter as ISACA’s 150th chapter in 1997, and continues to play a major role in its management. In 1999, Emirates instituted the annual Emirates Award for excellence in the CISA examination, and recently extended it to include CISM certification.
