General Electric’s (GE) CF6-80C2 engines in the Emirates Airline fleet have surpassed one million flight hours in revenue service. Part of the Emirates fleet since 1985, “these engines have exhibited high performance while powering the airline’s Airbus Industrie A310 and A300 wide-body aircraft,” an Emirates releas announced.
GE and Emirates successfully teamed up to develop and implement work scopes for the engines. GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE), a division of General Electric Company is an international manufacturer of jet engines for civil and military aircraft, including engines produced by CFM International, a 50/50 joint company of Snecma of France and GE. In addition, GEAE provides comprehensive maintenance support, through its GE Engine Services operation, for GE and non-GE jet engines in service throughout the world.
GE has been active in the Gulf since 1933. Its activities in the region are conducted through direct presence, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and a wide network of distributors. GE has completed strategic projects in various hi-tech industrial sectors, defense-related contracts and major infrastructure developments. — (menareport.com)
