ALBAWABA - Tesla and Space X CEO Elon Musk went viral on his own social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) after teasing the next generation of his Optimus AI robot.
Musk said on his official account, "The new Optimus design, which will be complete later this year, is something special." This was met with hype from X users across the board as they showed their excitement for what's to come in the future.
According to Tesla, despite being inspired by the older generation, the new Optimus 2.0 has undergone some design changes over the years including its humanoid robot hand which was redesigned four times in the last two years.
These design changes might not be in appearance but more towards the functionality of the robot. In our eyes functionality is way more important than aesthetics. Elon Musk also doesn't hide that Optimus currently roams Tesla offices for testing reasons by making it perform tasks.
According to Tesla Rati, One of the tasks includes two Optimus bots performing autonomous tasks in Tesla factories.
Elon Musk did confirm that Tesla will start renting Optimus bots before selling them but later will be available to both rent and purchase it. External sales are expected to start at the end of 2025.
One user replied to Musk and said, "I can’t wait to have one in my home. When will Tesla start accepting pre-orders?"
Others showed their excitement and said that they couldn't wait to have Optimus bots roaming in their businesses and homes.
