Emirates Internet and Multimedia (EIM), the Internet Service Provision (ISP) business unit of Etisalat, has upgraded its web hosting facility, operated from Etisalat’s Data Center (eDC), which is currently used by over 5,000 customers.

The move will enable companies and individuals with a ‘.ae’ domain name to host their web sites with EIM. The new packages offer storage space, managed e-mail accounts, databases for storing and managing information and the ability to run interactive multimedia sites.

“Research from the Aberdeen Group shows that by 2004, 70 percent of the world’s small to medium sized companies will use some kind of hosting facility,” commented Maroua Naim, EIM general manager.

The launch of EIM web hosting follows EIM’s announcement in July 2002 of the EIM Hosting (co-location and telehousing) Service. EIM web hosting differs from the EIM Hosting service in that it is aimed at companies with web sites requirements who will share space on servers. EIM Hosting provides a dedicated server for larger companies with more extensive Internet and telecommunications operations.

Launched in March 2000, EIM today has more than 945,000 Internet users, placing the UAE in the top 20 most Internet wired countries in the world. — (menareport.com)
