Some 135,000 tons of Egyptian oranges made their way to Saudi Arabia during the past agricultural season which ended in May, according to Business Today. This figure reflects a 15.8 percent climb compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, when orange exports to the Kingdom stood at 116,500 tons.
Saudi Arabia is Egypt’s largest orange export destination, followed by the United Kingdom, which imported some 10,700 tons of oranges, and Russia, which imported 6,300 tons this year.
Earlier this summer, the Saudi Kakdu firm for agricultural development announced plans to establish an agricultural trade center in Egypt, which would produce and package agricultural produce in the future. — (Mena Report)
