Egyptian furnishing company Mobica unveiled plans for its first showroom in the UAE, which will also be its first outside of Egypt. "We are investing two million dirhams ($544,500) in the showroom which will be on Khalid Bin Walid Street in Dubai.

This is a direct result of an excellent response we received at last year's Index and will be aimed at serving the UAE's growing hospitality sector," said Farouk Abdel Moneim, Mobica chairman. "We are also very close to signing a $740,000 contract for office furnishings with a UAE Ministry in Abu Dhabi."

Index 2001 is the largest in the annual event's 11-year-history. The show features almost 1,200 exhibitors from 50 countries and 20 national pavilions.

Mobica was founded in 1976 with a capital of 50 million Egyptian pounds. Spreading over 210,000 square meters, the company’s twelve factories produce office furniture, partition systems, office chairs, upholstery, labs and hospital furniture and automotive supplies. Mobica workforce totals 2,200 employees. — (Mena Report)
