The value of French exports to Egypt during the current year 2001 was estimated at 10 billion francs ($1.3 billion), by the economic and commercial Advisor of the French Embassy in Cairo, Eve De Reko, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat daily.

De Reko added that the trade balance between the two states is currently tilted at a five billion French francs surplus in favor of France. He also stated that French investments in Egypt, mainly in the tourism, banking and telecommunication sectors, have been growing consistently in recent times.

Furthermore, it was noted that various French companies have invested in the Toshki project in southern Egypt, and are taking part in another water treatment project in Abu El-Reesh. ― (MENA Report)
