Egyptian exports to Germany reach $261 million in 2001

Egypt exported €298.3 million ($261 million) worth of merchandise to Germany over the course of fiscal year 2001, compared with €280.3 million exports in the previous year, confirmed Egyptian Minister of Foreign Trade Youssef Botros Ghali to Al Akhbar.  

 

Both countries signed general trade agreements last September in a bid to boost exports from Egypt to Germany. Under the agreements, a new company will be established with the sole purpose of promoting the sale of Egyptian goods on German markets, according to Business Today .  

 

Exports from Egypt to Germany stood at one billion Egyptian pounds ($234.7) in 2000. This reflects a 17.5 percent rise compared with 850.95 million Egyptian pounds ($199.6 million) during the previous year. German imports to Egypt dropped by EP 1.28 million, to EP 5.67 billion in 2000, from 6.95 billion in 1999, reflecting an 18 percent fall. — (menareport.com)
