The Egyptian Tourism Ministry hopes that the coming New Year celebrations will bring up the number of nights spent by tourists in Egypt to as high as 35 million.
According to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, during the first 11 months of 2000, the number of nights spent by Egypt’s incoming tourists totaled 31 million, with a total of 4.4 million tourists visiting Egypt during that period.
The ministry believes that this number will grow to 35 million by the end of 2000, since the new-year celebrations this year coincide with the Islamic Eid Al-Fitter feast. ¯ (Albawaba-MEBG)
