The former head of Egypt's administrative watchdog has said the president's decision to sack him came as a "surprise" and that he is unaware of the reasons, the state-owned Al-Ahram newspaper reported on Saturday.
Safwat El-Nahas, the chief of the Central Agency for Organisation and Administration (CAOA) was dismissed on Thursday evening by President Morsi, who assigned Gihane Abdel Rahman, the current general secretary of the body, to the post. Abdel Rahman will hold both positions.
El-Nahas had served as the head of CAOA since 2004 after a career in Egypt's military.
CAOA, established in 1964, is the government body charged with organising public administration and developing efficiency in different government authorities.
