Recent reports reveal that Egypt is planning to organize an international oil conference in October 2002. The conference, the first such kind organized by the country, will deal specifically with issues of oil and natural gas in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Five international oil companies will take part in the planning of the event, according to Egyptian Oil Minister Sameh Fahmi. In addition, over 100 international firms and 3,000 industry experts will attend the fair.
The event is expected to promote the county’s oil industry by sharing expertise on production, exploration and marketing methods. It also aims to attract foreign investments to Egypt’s growing petrol and petrol-related industries.
Recent oil discoveries have raised Egypt’s estimated natural gas reserve to 3.5 trillion cubic meters. –(MENA Report)
