Egypt to increase its electricity capacity by 12,000MW by decade’s-end

The Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younes said that the government will focus on increasing the country’s electricity generation capacity, which presently stands at 16,000 megawatts, reported Al-Ahram. Local electricity consumption grows by seven percent per annum. 

 

The ministry is planning to launch a number of electricity generation projects by 2012, with the objective of increasing Egypt’s electricity generation capacity by another 12,000-14,000 megawatts. — (menareport.com)
