Egyptian trading company M.Tayea signed an eight million dollar contract to import meat from China. The new deal, signed with China’s Jindu Cattle Industry Group Corporation, provides for the export 2,400 tons of beef and 960 tons of mutton to Egypt, reported the People's Daily.

Egypt imports more than half of its food requirements, largely in bulk commodity form. Currently, there are 355 slaughterhouses in operation in Egypt, mostly small one-room operations but there are also eight industrial facilities located in Cairo and Alexandria where about 40 percent of the slaughtering takes place. All slaughter process is done according to the Islamic halal requirements. — (menareport.com)
