The Egyptian government is currently giving the final touches to its program before presenting it to President Hosni Mubarak early next September.
The program includes many socio-economic goals in the fiscal year 2004/2005, including raising the citizens' standard of living, providing new 650,000 job opportunities to the labour market in an attempt to reduce the unemployment rate from 9.9 to 9.3 %, cutting the rate of illiteracy from 27.8 to 23% and population rate of growth from 1.96 to 1.90%.
Additionally, the program aims at increasing the GDP to about L.E. 500 billion.
