Egypt’s Central Bank reports $2 billion budget deficit in 1Q 2001-2002

The Egyptian Central Bank reported that the general budget reflected a 10.4 billion Egyptian Pound (two billion dollar) deficit in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat . The deficit is equivalent to 2.8 percent of the GDP. The general budget’s revenues totaled EP 13.3 billion in the first quarter of 2001/2002 fiscal year and the budget’s expenditures totaled EP 23.7 billion in the first quarter of the same year. — (menareport.com)
