Egypt’s cement production reached 2.25 million tons in June 2001, up from 1.96 million during the corresponding month of last year. These figures reflect a 15 percent production rise, according to recent reports published by Egypt’s Ministry of Public Enterprise.
The report also revealed that cement sales have grown from 2.07 million tons sold in June 2000 to 2.74 million tons this past June 2001, an sales increase of 32 percent.
Furthermore, between July 2000 and June 2001, cement sales have reportedly exceeded production rates. As sales reached 25.5 million tons, production stood at 25.1 million tons. In comparison, during the corresponding period the previous year, a 21.8 million ton cement production exceeded the 19.7 million tons sales. — (Mena Report)
