Malaysian trade authorities recently announced that Egypt’s ban on livestock imported from Malaysia would have almost no economic impact on either country, save for ice-cream exports, reported The Sun.
Egypt’s ministry of agriculture recently announced a ban on all livestock related products from Malaysia and Turkey for fear of foot-and-mouth disease, although Malaysia maintained that there was no basis for worry, as no new case of the disease had been reported since mid-July.
Nonetheless, economic relations between the two countries have been on the rise in recent times, with further improvement expected in the future. So far this year, the trade deficit between the two nations narrowed nearly 32 percent. — (MENA Report)
