A senior executive in the Egypt Aluminum Company, the sole crude aluminum manufacturer in the country, recently announced that it intends to expand its production by 25 percent in the 2003 fiscal year.
The company will produce 244,000 metric tons of aluminum compared with its production of 193,507 metric tons in 2000, according to KSAToday daily. Egypt Aluminum hopes to raise its production level to 300,000 metric tons per year over the next seven years.
Currently, its plants are comprised of a 180,000 metric-ton-per-year primary aluminum smelter and a rolling mill, both located at Aluminum City in Naga-Hamadi. —(MENA Report)
