Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has made a donation of AED 10 million to “Dubai Cares,” the pioneering charity campaign which aims to educate one million children from poor countries around the world.
Launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Cares has captured the imagination of a global audience, with many international visitors to exhibitions and events at DWTC venues asking for more information about the campaign.
Announcing the contribution, Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of Dubai World Trade Centre, commented that support for this initiative was an essential part of DWTC’s far-reaching corporate social responsibility programme.
To support the campaign, DWTC employees have been running a fund drive and wearing Dubai Cares badges throughout major events, to spread the message to visitors, partners and exhibitors.
“Access to education will enable millions of impoverished children to break through the chains of poverty and improve their options in life. This is a visionary campaign, which has thrived under the guidance of the country’s leadership, and we are proud to support it in every way that we can,” said Al Marri.
“Dubai World Trade Centre has a clear sense of its corporate social responsibility, and we will continue to find new and innovative ways to make a significant contribution to local and global campaigns,” he added. Dubai Cares was launched to support the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goal of achieving universal primary education by 2015.
