Durrat Al Bahrain, the Kingdom’s largest planned luxury mixed-use residential, commercial and resort development, today announced that it has become the top sponsor of the National Men’s Volleyball teams.

In becoming the lead sponsor for the teams, Durrat presented a cheque for BD (40,000) to the Bahrain Volleyball Association in a ceremony attended by Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the General Organization for Youth and Sports (GOYS), Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Volleyball Association, and Mr. Jassim Al Jowder, Chief Executive Officer of Durrat Al Bahrain.

Durrat’s sponsorship of the youth and senior men’s players will be critical in supporting the teams as they continue to enhance their performance and their presence in key regional and international volleyball tournaments. The teams have both become successful competitors in the GCC and other Asian tournaments, ranking among the leaders.

Sporting the Durrat Al Bahrain logo, the teams are set to take part in May 2006 in the Crown Prince’s Cup in Bahrain to be followed by major tournaments abroad including the Arab Volleyball Championships to be held in Beirut in November 2006 and the upcoming GCC Youth Championships in Abu Dhabi during the period 28 July – 4 August 2006.

Commenting on Durrat’s sponsorship of the team, Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, said, “We are delighted with Durrat Al Bahrain’s support for the men’s volleyball teams and their ongoing efforts to further enhance their positions on the regional and international sporting arena. Bahrain is becoming increasingly competitive across a broad range of sports and the backing we continue to receive from companies and projects such as Bahrain are critical. Durrat Al Bahrain, like our teams, represents the great achievement and potential of our Kingdom and we are delighted to begin our cooperation together.”

“Durrat Al Bahrain is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the National Volleyball Association and its top teams. We believe in the tremendous prospects of our sporting teams in Bahrain and are proud to help ensure they have the necessary resources and support to advance to new levels of success. Durrat Al Bahrain is a project built on Bahrain’s potential and a growing demand in the Kingdom for an active and natural lifestyle. We believe our association with the sport of volleyball is in line with the Durrat vision and healthy lifestyle we seek to offer residents,” said Mr. Jassim Al Jowder, Chief Executive Officer of Durrat Al Bahrain.

Durrat Al Bahrain has been planned as a world-class residential, leisure and commercial and tourist destination, offering a lifestyle experience unrivalled in the Middle East. The project’s masterplan has been built on Bahrain’s rich natural beauty and traditional affinity with the land and sea combined with every conceivable modern amenity.

The development’s unique features include the commercial Crescent, a semi-circular landmass extending into the sea, 6 Atoll Islands, 5 Petal Islands, a stand alone island set to house a 5-star family hotel and resort, a state-of-the-art marina and an 18-hole golf course, all of which is being developed in phases.

It is expected that the project will be completed in its entirety by late 2009 and, at full capacity, will accommodate more than 30,000 full time residents in addition to some 4,000 visitors a day.
