Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) planners recently launched a marketing campaign to attract as many tourists as possible to the upcoming 2002 event. The campaign got off the ground with a new TV commercial that was released on Dubai TV during Eid Al-Feter and will be seen on major Arab and international satellite channels from the first week of January 2002.
The new TV commercial shows Dubai as a center-stage for international performers, showing dramatic images of a Russian artiste performing against the backdrop of the Burj Al Arab, a Spanish dancer against the Dubai Creek Golf &Yacht Club and a Brazilian performer at Dubai Media City.
Marketing Coordinator of DSF, Saeed Al-Nabouda, said an international crew was assembled to produce the commercial, under the direction of a renowned Australian filmmaker Kent Allen, in association with a leading Dubai-based production house. The post-production was done in the Far East.
“We are focusing very strongly on the European market which has a high potential, as well as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and neighboring Arab countries where people are hesitant to travel to the West due to recent developments,” Al-Nabouda said. The marketing campaign is being conducted through advertising in inflight magazines of major European airlines, travel magazines as well as on CNN, BBC and CNBC.
“We are also in the process of devising very attractive holiday packages during DSF 2002 for people from the GCC and neighboring Arab countries in association with Dubai’s hospitality industry,” said Al-Nabouda. — (menareport.com)
