A host of new social service facilities will soon be provided to residents of Dubai's newly developed areas by local authorities, including schools, hospitals, health centers and clinics, mosques, and fire stations.
Dubai's civic body revealed new development plans to meet the needs of such residents, who currently need to travel long distances to reach basis services in many cases, according to Gulf News.
Acting Director General of the Dubai Municipality, Hussain Nasser Lootah, explained that the municipality was doing its best to alleviate the problem, and that the civic body has prepared community services development plans in the new areas, which had until now lacked basic facilities. "It includes communities developed by private developers," he said.
"We don't want them to take unnecessary trips to the center of the city to meet their basic needs causing traffic congestion and also wasting time and energy," he added.
"Following directions from His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the Municipality has already instructed the government bodies concerned to provide the required community services in these areas," Lootah said.
Lootah told reporters earlier in the week that the municipality would undertake Dh1.5 billion worth of civic projects to providing such services to the newly developed parts of the emirate.
