Companies representing Dubai's printing and publishing sector met at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) to elect a representative committee comprising of 12 members. Enhancing communication levels and collaterally providing plausible solutions to everyday issues and problems were among his priorities for the group.
The committee was elected by a general ballot from nominations submitted by the Printing and Publishing Business Group over the past few months. Chaired by Ahmed Al-Banna, assistant director general for Studies and International Affairs at DCCI, the meeting was attended by a business group members.
“Initially, DCCI launched its new business strategy, which included the formation of seven new business groups covering various business sectors in Dubai. Phase two of the new business group program will see each group electing its own representative committee,” Al-Bana said.
“Our records show that this sector comprises of more than 300 companies, covering various aspects of the industry, which totals up to five billion Emirati dirhams. The printing and publishing of local news papers alone is valued at Dh1.5 billion,” he added.
A total of seven new Dubai-based business groups were set up in October and November. The new groups represent the foodstuffs trading sector, land transport sector, pharmaceuticals and health equipments trading, building materials trading and manufacturing, food and beverages manufacturing, exhibitions and conventions, as well as printing and publishing.
During phase two of the new business group program, each group will reconvene at DCCI to elect a panel of between eight to 12 representatives. — (menareport.com)
