The Dubai Ports Authority (DPA) posted 13.43 percent rise in containers handled during the first six months of 2002 from the Jebel Ali, Port Rashid and Hamriya terminals. The handled cargo reached 1.93 million twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers compared to 1.7 million TEU’s recorded during the same period last year.
DPA serves more than 125 shipping lines. Its facilities include cold stores and cool stores in the Jebel Ali Free Zone to a purpose-built berth for import of bulk aluminum oxide and expanded tanker jetties to handle the requirement for petroleum and petrochemical products. The container storage yards at Jebel Ali terminal offer 988,907 square meters of storage space. — (menareport.com)
