Dubai International Airport has been judged best in the world for Airport Marketing in the Category of Airports handling 10-15 million passengers per annum at Routes 2002 Conference in Athens, Greece.
The award was received by Anita Mehra Homayoun, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications, Department of Civil Aviation Dubai, at an awards ceremony held near the ancient monument of Acropolis. The awards ceremony was attended by over 1,200 distinguished guests from the travel, airline and aviation industry.
The Routes Airport Marketing Awards, now in its sixth year, this year sought to recognize airports whose overall marketing activities left a positive impression in the industry and made a real impact on future network development plans. Those who voted for the awards were the primary customers – the airline network planning community. The nominations for the award were based on the airport’s market research activities, the airport’s marketing communications activities and the airport’s business case presentations for new market opportunities.
Currently over 100 airlines connecting to around 140 destinations worldwide operate out of Dubai International Airport. In the year 2002 alone, eight new airlines started operations. The Department of Civil Aviation is working on attracting even more airlines. At the Routes Conference, DCA representatives met with a number of new airlines to discuss various possibilities. — (menareport.com)
