Dubai Duty Free (DDF) clocked up record daily sales of 7.1 million Emirati dirhams ($1.9 million) on December 20, 2003, the retailer’s 20th anniversary day.
The anniversary offer of providing shoppers with a 20 percent discount had the desired effect of increasing sales, resulting in 35,733 sales transactions on the day, stated a press release.
Dubai Duty Free has grown to become the fifth largest airport retailer in the world in terms of turnover after London Heathrow, Singapore, Amsterdam and Paris. On October 10, DDF reported record daily sales of Dh 4.9 million, which surpassed the record set on December 20 last year when sales reached Dh 4.74 million. — (menareport.com)
