Senior cruise executives from the British Seatrade recently met with the Deputy Director General of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) Hussain Ali Lootah and DTCM Manager Heritage Sites and Events Awadh Al-Seghayer to confirm the staging of the Seatrade Middle East Cruise Conference in Dubai in 2003.
"The cruise conference presents an efficient prospect for us to network with other leaders in the cruise industry and to showcase our exclusive cruise terminal and the attractions of the emirate to a high-profile target audience," said Lootah. He noted that Dubai was leading the way forward in developing cruise tourism to the region. "The DTCM has constructed a ship-shaped cruise terminal that is the only dedicated cruise facility in the Arabian Gulf," Lootah added.
"Through hosting such major events we plan to secure the future of cruise tourism in the region by providing the customer with a choice of new and exciting cruising itineraries," said Lootah. Seghayer said "The Dubai Cruise Terminal has been created to attract more cruise lines to winter in the region, as well as to provide streamlined passenger facilities for the growing number of passenger ships using Dubai as a turnaround port." — (menareport.com)
