Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdul Rahman Ghanim Al-Mutaiwee discussed with Senegal Ambassador Sheikh Al-Tijani Se the possibilities of opening the West African markets for re-exports from Dubai via Senegal.
Al-Mutaiwee mentioned that for the Dubai Chamber plans for this purpose to participate in the Dakar International Exhibition which will be held in the Senegal capital next December. He added that this would pave the way for organizing an independent exhibition for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Senegal to promote trade relations between the two countries.
During the recent visit of the Senegal Ambassador to the Dubai Chamber, he expressed that the Senegal Ministry of Trade and the Dakar Chamber of Commerce both welcome this initiative, and that the Senegal government is willing to cooperate with the Dubai Chamber in every effort to consolidate the trade and Commercial relations between Senegal and the UAE. He also pointed out the political stability, security and infrastructure Senegal enjoys, which have attracted investment from Europe and the Far East, and have made Senegal a center for many international and regional conferences.
The Senegal Ambassador invited the Dubai Chamber to visit Senegal and get acquainted with the facilities available. He also expressed the embassy's willingness to cooperate with the Chamber in the efforts to develop trade between the Arabian Gulf Region and West Africa through the Emirates and Senegal.
Trade between the Emirates and Senegal through Dubai is considered to be in its early stages, as it does not exceed 20 million Emirati dirhams ($5.4 million), which sheds light on the possibilities for development. There are indirect routs for Air and sea transport between the two countries through Morocco and Europe. — (menareport.com)
