These were the views held by many expatriates and residents who appealed to the authorities to check spiralling rent increases, The Gulf News has reported.
In some cases, annual rents for a studio flat went from Dh16,000 to Dh30,000, a one-bedroom hall unit from Dh26,000 to Dh45,000 and a two-bedroom unit from Dh31,000 to Dh55,000.
