A plan to reshape Dubai's city center was recently revealed by local Dubai authorities. The plan will include major landscaping and beautification projects, development of open spaces into recreational zones and parks, as well as the redevelopment of existing spaces for recreational purposes.
In all, the proposed project aims to construct 29 public parks along with 45 community parks, according to Gulf News.
"We want to add fresh charm to the city's central business districts. This is being done by carrying out beautification projects like the Deira Corniche Project, Bani Yas Square Fountain project and plazas," explained Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director General of the Dubai Municipality.
Additionally, two sports parks will be developed for the exclusive use of laborers residing in the areas of Al Muhaisina and Al Quoz, marking the first project of its kind.
"Also, landlords will be instructed in some old areas to construct new buildings instead of old and dilapidated ones," Lootah added.
The plans are part of a Dh1.5 billion civic project program recently revealed by the Dubai municipality to developed parts of the emirate, as well as provide social service facilities to newly developed areas of the city, including schools, hospitals, health centers and clinics, mosques, and fire stations.
