The Organizing Committee of Dubai 2003 visited the new $210 million Dubai International Convention Center where construction has now been completed.

At the heart of the new center is a state-of-the art multi-purpose hall that will provide seating for the 4,500 delegates to the Annual Meetings and be the biggest venue of its kind in the Middle East. Organizing Committee members toured the hall that is the first element of the Convention Center project to be completed.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) won the bid to host the Annual Meetings prior to the decision of the Government of Dubai to build the new convention center. This represents a major long-term investment that will significantly boost Dubai and the UAE as an international conference center and boost the tourism industry. Statistics for example show that one third of US tourism is generated via the conference industry. — (menareport.com)
