“Wood is one of the most widely used materials in all areas, be it construction, engineering, packaging, transportation or furnishing. The significant increase in Dubai’s trade in wood and wooden goods is a reflection of the rapid business growth and commercial development of the Emirate,” said Adel E. Al Ashram, Senior Manager, Department of Statistics, PCFC..
“The marked increase in imports of wooden products is mainly due to the major growth in the construction sector in Dubai, with residential and commercial enterprises coming up across the city. The favourable growth in trading of wooden products will continue in the coming years as well,” added Al Ashram.
Dubai’s wood industry has witnessed several positive changes in the recent years, with the adoption of innovative technology and machinery. Manufacturers of wooden products in Dubai are increasingly turning towards resources that can be renewed, to ensure protection of the natural environment.
