The General Accounts Department of Ras Al-Khaimah awarded a contract to the Dubai-based company Hydroturf International, for the design, construction and operation of an 18-hole golf course.
The project is part of the department’s aim to promote Ras Al-Khaimah's hospitality and leisure industry. The 18-hole grass fully floodlit Golf Course and Academy is the first golf course in Ras Al-Khaimah and the second of its kind in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The project will commence in March to be completed early next year.
The agreement entrusts Hydroturf International to manage the project during the construction period as well as after completion. The new project is hoped to increase traffic to Ras Al-Khaimah hotels.
As a new entrant to the industry, the course will strengthen the local golfing sector. “This project is expected to enhance the Emirates' position as a golfing centre and help to attract inbound tourists,” said Sheikh Faisal Bin Saqr Al-Qassimi, chairman of General Accounts Department of Ras Al-Khaimah.
Dubai based Hydroturf International operates throughout the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Egypt. The company has offices in Abu Dhabi, Ras Al-Khaimah, Cairo, Al-Gouna, Jeddah and Riyadh. Hydroturf's first golf project was undertaken in Saudi Arabia in 1991. Since then, the company has developed into a regional supplier of irrigation, turfcare machinery and golf cars to the Middle East Golf Market. — (menareport.com)
