The Government of Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), officially released the 2002 editions of the German and French language versions of Destination Dubai, a comprehensive planning manual for the international travel trade from the DTCM stand at the European Incentive and Business Travel Meetings (EIBTM) exhibition in Geneva yesterday.

“The EIBTM is an ideal platform to officially launch these two publications simultaneously because of the large presence of German and French speaking travel professionals and media present at this event,” said DTCM Director Operations and Marketing, Mohammed Khamis Bin Hareb.

He noted that the Swiss population itself was made up of predominantly German and French speakers whose second language was English. Destination Dubai is the DTCM's flagship travel trade publication that provides comprehensive details about the emirate's tourism attractions, facilities and services, and provides overseas tour operators with all the information they need to put together Dubai holiday packages.

Free copies were made available to inquiring firms and individuals at the venue. 18,500 copies in German and 10,000 copies in French have been produced and will be distributed through the DTCM's office in Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria and at major travel trade exhibitions, roadshows and other promotions, as well as by direct mail.

The manual includes essential data on travel and tourism in the emirate, including a directory section covering hotels, airlines, sightseeing, tours, safaris, sports facilities, shopping, dining, entertainment, car hire and other useful contacts with phone, fax, email and mailing addresses.

The 104-page manual covers all aspects of the Dubai tourist experience, from sports to shopping. In addition, there is a general information section detailing important aspects of travel to the emirate including history, culture, population, visa and customs regulations, health requirements, climate, clothing and lifestyle. — (menareport.com)
