Dover Petroleum has reported that its Senusret drill rig in Egypt has reached the second well target location (EWA-1X) in the northern region of the area covered by the East Wadi Araba Concession in the Gulf of Suez, Egypt.
The drill rig has completed a three hole coring test to confirm structural stability for the jack-up and is now in the process of setting the 30 inch conductor casing, prior to commencing drilling.
The drill program will test a number of horizons that could contain potential hydrocarbon reserves. The target total depth is estimated to be 6,000 feet. The company anticipates a strategic and carefully planned drill program to test all available zones of potential hydrocarbons.
These same zones have produced over 60 million barrels of recoverable oil in the nearby Warda oilfield, 1.8 miles northeast of EWA-1X. Drilling of the EWA-1X target is expected to be completed in approximately 20 days if no drilling problems are encountered.
Dover Petroleum's wholly owned subsidiary, Dover Petroleum Egypt I, has a 56.25 percent interest in Dover Egypt I Joint Venture, which is a party to an Option Agreement entitling that joint venture to acquire 100 percent of the Operator's interest in the East Wadi Araba Concession Agreement. — (menareport.com)
