DOHALAND today announced the launch of its Hospitality division with the mandate to establish a leading hotel management company capable of managing properties globally. The new subsidiary will be headed by Mr. Abdul Aziz Al-Emadi, a 20 year veteran of the hospitality industry.
DOHALAND Hospitality today also announced the appointment of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, to operate and manage a new luxury city centre hotel and serviced apartments to be built as part of the Musheireb - Heart of Doha development. The new hotel, scheduled to open in 2014, will be DOHALAND’s first hotel under the umbrella of DOHALAND Hospitality.
DOHALAND Hospitality’s aim will be to introduce unique hotel brands to Qatar, contributing to the development of tourism and hospitality industry in the country, and achieve the best in modern hospitality standards.
Speaking on the occasion of the signing ceremony, CEO- DOHALAND Hospitality Mr. Abdul Aziz Al-Emadi said, “DOHALAND has always been associated with partners of global prominence. Mandarin Oriental, Doha will be located within Musheireb, DOHALAND’s flagship project, and will feature 160 luxurious guestrooms including 44 suites as well as 95 serviced apartments. All guest rooms will display contemporary reinterpretation of traditional local influences together with a subtle oriental touch. Mandarin Oriental’s renowned customer-centric and highly sophisticated in-room entertainment systems will also be a prominent feature.
Other facilities will include an all-encompassing Spa at Mandarin Oriental and a variety of restaurants, leisure options, and extensive meeting facilities including a ballroom, function rooms and an executive boardroom.

Mr. Al Emadi brings with him over 20 years of experience in Hospitality Industry, beginning his career in 1991 at Sheraton Doha Hotel & Resort as a management trainee and working his way up to become Director of Sales & Marketing. As General Manager, he played an essential role in the development and recognition of the first local hotel brand in Qatar, Merweb Hotel. Mr Al Emadi was also General Manager of the top luxurious resort in town, Sharq Village & Spa. Before joining DOHALAND, he was the CEO of Barwa Hotels & Resorts, a subsidiary of Barwa Real Estate Company. Besides his full-time job, Mr. Al Emadi was also the Accommodation Advisor for Doha Asian Games Organizing Committee (DAGOC) 2006.

Construction on DOHALAND’s QR20bn signature project has already begun, with work be completed in five phases, the first due for completion by 2012, and the entire project to be completed by 2016. A team of Hyundai and HBK is contracted to complete Phase 1A.
