Dnata Cargo's Freezone Logistics Centre (FLC) recorded 344 touchdowns in November, more than 10 per day, and a throughput of 7,934 tons. Both figures represent more than double those for November 2002, stated a company press release.

As a result, plans have just been firmed up for a second major extension to FLC. Since its opening in August 1999, FLC has more than doubled in size. When it started operations, FLC offered 9,000 square meters of warehouse space, 1,000 square meters of office space, and 300 square meters of temperature-controlled storage, plus documentation counters, customs and closed circuit TV.

In March, Emirates Group Chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum opened an extension that provided an additional 10,000 square meters of warehouse space, 2,300 square meters of airline offices, and a business support center.

The new further extension to be built next year will add 15,000 square meters of warehouse space – almost 80 percent more covered area – to FLC, for a total of 34,000 square meters. — (menareport.com)
