DHL UAE, an air express service supplier in the United Arab Emirates’, has teamed up with The Body Shop UAE to provide medical aid to an Indian hospital.

DHL has shipped, free-of-charge, a consignment of eye-care aids, consisting of donated unwanted spectacles, plain and colored lenses, sunglasses, frames and spectacle cases, to Icare Eye Hospital in Noida, India.

"The Body Shop's charity initiative is a move we whole-heartedly support and is in line with DHL's commitment to the community," said Rod Ellis, marketing manager for DHL UAE.

The Body Shop outlets across the UAE collected discarded spectacles, lenses and sunglasses from customers who responded to the company's appeal to help the Indian hospital.

"The Icare Eye Hospital is providing a sterling service to the poorer sections of society in Noida by conducting free eye camps, and we want them to take it a step further," said Rami Eissawi, assistant retail manager for The Body Shop, UAE. "DHL supported us in a similar venture three years ago and is a loyal and consistent advocate of our charity initiatives."

In a separate charitable initiative, DHL has also renewed its contract with Medecins Sans Frontieres to provide the organization with complimentary courier services for another year.

"Ours is a small, yet vital, contribution which will help go a step further in improving the quality of life for a few needy people," said Rod Ellis. "We want to support both these organizations in their efforts to help poor individuals who are unable to afford proper medical treatment." – (menareport.com)
