DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics provider, today announced its official logistics partnership of the Bartercard Gulf Radical Cup (GRC), a pan-Gulf motor racing series.
Run as part of the Dubai Autodrome’s national raceday series, the GRC is an exciting and prestigious race series for all Radical prototype sports cars. The races will be held over nine rounds, seven in Dubai, one in Bahrain and one in Doha with participation of 11 drivers, including two Bahrainis, two Emiratis and one Saudi. The two-day race rounds kicked-off in Bahrain on the 23rd of November at the Bahrain International Circuit, and will be followed by Dubai on the 1st and 15th of December at the Dubai Autodrome and Qatar on the 26th of January at the Losail Circuit.
The partnership agreement will see DHL transports 10 race cars, 100 tyres, spare parts and all the mechanical equipment for these technically sophisticated machines from Dubai to Bahrain and Doha with the total amount of shipments valued at US1M.
Phil Couchman, DHL’s Regional Director for the Middle East, said: “Our partnership with the GRC demonstrates why DHL is the leader in complete express and logistics solutions. Our vast experience, knowledge and expertise guarantee we are consistently able to deliver a premium service that DHL is renowned for.”
DHL’s tie-up with GRC will offer a comprehensive logistics service to deliver the shipments to Bahrain and Doha. Three trucks will leave Dubai to Bahrain and DHL will use its expertise to clear the shipments at the Saudi Customs border point. The second trip will follow to Doha after one month.
“We offer seamless end-to-end solutions and take full ownership of such projects across the region. This partnership with GRC will ensure the timely, secure and safe delivery of the high value sporting cars to their final destinations as swiftly as possible,” Couchman added.
Commenting on the partnership with DHL, Barry Hope, Managing Director for GulfSport Racing LLC, organiser of the GRC said: “DHL’s track record and professional approach made us confident that the project would be completed as planned. We are delighted that they have come on board as our logistics partner for a formidable task.”
GRC includes races at the Bahrain International Circuit in November supporting the Australian V8 Supercar Championship event and the Grand Prix Masters, an international series for veteran F1 drivers in Qatar in January.
