DHL Middle East, the regional leader in express and logistics services, recently donated a total sum of BD 2,000 in support of a British pilot’s efforts in raising money for two of the biggest children’s charity foundations in the world, namely the Dyslexia Foundation and the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC). The BD 2,000-cheque was presented to Barry Jones, the British pilot, by Duncan Watson, Area Commercial Director for DHL Middle East, at the DHL Hub in Bahrain.
The 37-year old British pilot, Barry Jones, aims to raise enough money to support two of globally renowned children’s charity organizations by gaining sponsorship and donations for his efforts in becoming the first person to fly around the world in a gyroplane. Jones, who begun his flight from the UK, aims to set a world record by flying more than 25,000 miles across 25 countries in 80 days on his gyroplane ‘Global Eagle’
“I would like to thank DHL for their support for my mission” commented Jones. “It is encouraging for me to see that leading companies like DHL remain committed to supporting such humanitarian initiatives and I thank them for having provided me with both the financial support and backing necessary to continue my project with full confidence.”
The pilot has so far flown to Belgium, Germany, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Jordan and Bahrain and is expected to visit the UAE, Oman, Pakistan, India, Burma, Laos, Vietnam, China, Russia, the US, Canada, Greenland and Iceland before ending back in the United Kingdom.
