Emirates’ air express supplier, DHL has introduced an SMS mobile phone delivery notification service for cash customers. More than 18 months ago DHL introduced WAP and SMS track and trace services for mobile phone users.
“The take up has been substantial,” said General Manager of DHL in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), David Wild. “The SMS tracking reuses the DHL Web Trace applications, data and business rules to track shipments with single airwaybills,” he added.
DHL says further improvements to its SMS services are being planned. “Possible future enhancements include the creation of a ‘character airwaybill’ and the tracking of multiple airwaybills with one message,” said Wild. — (menareport.com)
