Express and logistics provider DHL has commenced operations in Iraq, immediately following the UN Security Council vote to lift economic sanctions against the country. DHL is the first express and logistics company to enter the country, stated a press release.

DHL will offer both air express services through DHL Express, and heavy freight and logistics through its DHL Danzas Air & Ocean division. An initial DHL staff of seven, including four Iraqi people will be based in Iraq. DHL will be offering a service of three flights weekly, flying from Bahrain to Bagdad.

An AN-12 airplane offering a capacity of 20 tons will be operated on the air express route. Trucking services will also be offered on two routes: Kuwait City to Basra and Jordan to the Northern zone of Iraq.

DHL offers solutions in express, air and ocean freight and overland transport. The company’s international network links more than 220 countries and territories worldwide. Based in Brussels, Belgium, DHL is 100 percent owned by Deutsche Post World Net. — (menareport.com)
