United Development Company (UDC), one of Qatar’s leading private shareholding companies, today announced it would be sponsoring the 6th Conference for New and Restored Democracies.

The major forum will be held in Doha between October 29 and November 1. During the conference, Qatar will play host to foreign ministers, parliamentarians and representatives from 192 countries.

Among the various democracy-related issues on the agenda, the itinerary for the three-day talks will include discussions on reform processes, good governance, freedom, development, and methods in which to combat poverty. “Qatar is increasingly becoming a strong global player, politically, economically and socially. To host such an event further highlights Qatar’s forward thinking and visionary leadership,” said Roger Dagher, UDC Chief Communication Officer.

“All of us at UDC are proud to play a role in Qatar’s development as a convention and dialogue-based center. As one of Qatar’s leading shareholding companies, UDC is committed to active community involvement and supports corporate responsibility initiatives,” he added.

United Development Company is one of Qatar’s leading private sector shareholding companies. It is the owner and developer of The Pearl-Qatar, the multi-billion dollar offshore real estate project. UDC’s business operations extend to also include the energy sector, construction, district cooling and other environment-related businesses.
