A commercial delegation from Cyprus will visit Dubai in the near future. At the same time an exhibition of Cypriot products will be held, in order to consolidate commercial relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Cyprus. This was stated by the Deputy Director General of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) Ahmad Abdul Rahman Al-Banna, after receiving the new director of the Cyprus Trade Center in Dubai, Yusuf Al-Jundi.
Al-Banna mentioned that Cyprus is among the leading countries, which have set up trade centers in Dubai to develop their economic relations in the Arabian Gulf Region via Dubai. He added that Cyprus has been consistent in organizing exhibitions in Dubai to develop its exports to the Region.
Al-Banna pointed out to Al-Jundi that Dubai has a policy of diversifying it’s sources of income, as oil income constitutes no more than 17 percent of the current gross domestic product (GDP). He mentioned that, the Dubai government invested the oil revenue in building a modern infrastructure, which enhances Dubai’s economic role in the region. Dubai has also invested to develop its abilities in other sectors, such as tourism, finance and technology fields, which made Dubai a regional base for these activities as well.
The trade exchange between the United Arab Emirates through Dubai and Cyprus is around 60 million Emirati dirhams ($16 million) half of which is for imports. Foodstuff and equipment are among the main imports from Cyprus. — (menareport.com)
