The Bass Hotels & Resorts company took another step in its Middle East and Africa expansion scheme with the opening in mid-July of the first Crowne Plaza resort in the region at Sharm Al-Shaikh. Egypt's second Crowne Plaza resort will open next year at Abu Soma, between the Red Sea resorts of Safaga and Hurghada.
Egyptian tourism minister Mamduh Baltajh stated he is confident that Sharm Al-Shaikh’s new resort would attract many tourists into the region, reported Al-Sharq Al-Aswat.
Built on a 250,000 square meter site facing the sea in the Al-Pacha Bay, the resort is situated a 10-minutes’ drive from the Sharm Al-Shaikh International Airport. The resort has 329 deluxe rooms offering tea and coffee facilities, computer connections and international satellite television.
Bass Hotels & Resorts are opening new Inter-Continental hotels at Taba Heights, Heliopolis and Cairo next year, while new Holiday Inn hotels open this year at Amphoras and Horizon Beach. Inter-Continental already has two Holiday Inn properties under management by Bass Hotels & Resorts in Egypt. — (Mena Report)
