A consortium of leading regional and international companies is set to implement a pioneering e-procurement pilot project for the Government of Jordan (GoJ) as part of its broader e-government initiative. The entire project is scheduled for completion by the end of January 2003.
The consortium, which brings together Aregon, Specialized Technical Services (STS), IBM, Cisco Systems, Microsoft and Cyberia, has developed a comprehensive e-procurement solution that will establish a live, working and stable demo system for conducting purchasing activities within the Ministry of Public Works and Housing. The project reflects the concerted efforts of Jordan's Ministry of Information and Communications Technology to bring the compelling benefits of e-procurement to the GoJ.
The main components of the pilot are supplier adoption and enablement, catalogue building, analysis and reconfiguration of existing purchasing processes, implementation of a revised procurement process and user training. Key improvements include reductions in manual processes, administrative burdens, error rates, and fulfillment cycle times, as well as significantly higher contract compliance rates. — (menareport.com)
