The performance of the clothing industry in the State of Bahrain took a downturn in 2001. Two local clothing manufacturers were shut down in 2001, while another two plants are expected to close shortly, reported Al-Sharq Al-Awsat . Remaining factories are expected to suffer further due current market conditions. A recently released market study shows that Bahrain’s clothing manufacturing capacity dropped by 25-50 percent last year. Out of the existing 21 clothing factories, only 18 percent have orders for January and February and 27 percent have orders for March. — (menareport.com)
