DaimlerChrysler Middle East has reported a five percent annual increase in November 2001 of its Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep sales compared to last year, helped by high sales results in its SUV and passenger car lines in Qatar, Kuwait and Oman.

“November retail sales of the Chrysler Concorde family sedan rose 45 percent over 2000 helping us hit a five percent annual increase,” said David Glorius, vice president sales and marketing director of the company in the Middle East. “Our Chrysler Sebring mid-size family sedan is tracking at 121 percent above its 2000 level, while the Grand Voyager continues to prove why it is the region’s leading minivan with an annual increase of 21 percent.”

Qatar recorded the region’s best sales, with a 55 percent year-on-year increase mainly attributed to United Cars Almana. It is closely followed by Kuwait, where Behbehani Jeep Motors reported a 56 percent rise in November sales, while Chrysler/Dodge distributor Bader Al Mulla posted an increase of 22 percent above the same period last year.

In Oman, Chrysler/Dodge distributor Zubair Automotive doubled its November sales compared to last year, and Shanfari Automotive’s November results helped Jeep sales hit a 55 percent year-on-year increase. In the region’s 4x4 segment, sales of the Jeep icon, the Wrangler, are 21 percent over the same period last year. — (menareport.com)
